Reports in the Daily Star confirm that the Super Lig side will offer the 27-year-old German a huge contract when his deal with the European champions expires at the end of the season in order to tempt him into the move.

This comes after Khedira revealed last month said that he would be willing to extend his contract at with the Spanish giants, despite Toni Kroos and Luka Modric becoming Carlo Ancelotti’s first-choice midfield pairing.

He said at the time: “I’d be happy if we found a solution to the contract situation. I’m in good shape again and so I’m very confident that I’m going to get my chances to play very soon. I’m a fan of fierce competition.”

Arsenal looked to have made the most progress over a deal for Khedira, but Arsene Wenger’s recent comments regarding Francis Coquelin mean that the club’s need for a defensive midfielder has seemingly been reduced.

“Having to find solutions internally is a blessing,” he said after the win over Manchester City. “And at the moment it works well.”

Khedira won a World Cup and a Champions League in 2014, and he’s a player of proven pedigree and prestige. As a result, it would be extremely strange if he did move to the Turkish side, especially considering that at 27, he’s entering his footballing prime.
