Mauricio Pochettino Warns Tottenham Fans Against Booing Emmanuel Adebayor During Arsenal Game

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has appealed for supporters to respect Emmanuel Adebayor…

Emmanuel Adebayor faces the ominous prospect of being booed by both sets of supporters when his Tottenham side take on Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend, reports the Daily Express.

The Togolese star was linked with a switch to West Ham United on transfer deadline day, only for manager Mauricio Pochettino and the Spurs board to step in and block the move.

Rumours of his departure came just weeks after Adebayor had criticised the Tottenham supporters by claiming that they were too negative, but Pochettino has now asked the White Hart Lane faithful to get behind their player for the rest of the season.

He said: “It’s important that the fans forget the past. I think he explained why he made the comments. And now, all together, we need to try to get the success, because we are in a key moment.

“We need to put out the bad things, the bad energy, we need to try to help each other and try to get the success. This is the important thing. So yes, I want the booing to stop.

“In the past it was difficult for him and what was happening,” he added. “Always it is difficult to come back and get back to the same level. It is not easy to stay fit. It is a matter of time.

“He is a long way towards recovering his confidence and his levels and that is our job: to try to push him and help him and get him in the best condition to improve quickly. He is in a good mood, he is in a good way. And yesterday he explained that he is happy to stay here.”
