Here are the player ratings for Chelsea following their 2-1 over Aston Villa:

GK) Thibaut Courtois – 5.5

A surprisingly poor performance from the Belgian, and didn’t look sharp despite being rarely tested.

RB) Branislav Ivanovic – 8.0

A solid defensive performance, capped with an absolutely stunning goal.

CB) John Terry – 7.0

Great in the air, and marshaled the troops well.

CB) Gary Cahill – 7.0

Kept Gabriel Agbonlahor quiet all game, with the Aston Villa man not getting the service he needed.

LB) Cesar Azpilicueta – 7.5

Played huge part in the buildup for the second goal, and showed why he is largely preferred over Filipe Luis.

DM) Nemanja Matic – 7.0

Destructive in midfield as usual, and connected play between attack and defence well.

CM) Ramires – 6.5

Anonymous for large parts of the game, but did link up with Eden Hazard well on a couple of occasions.

CAM) Oscar – 7.0

A distinctly average game from the Brazilian, who didn’t really shine as he normally does.
RAM) Willian – 7.5

Grabbed an assist for the opening goal, and tracked back dutifully. Replaced by Juan Cuadrado late on.

LAM) Eden Hazard – 7.5

Took his goal superbly, but was unusually quiet for large parts of the game.

ST) Didier Drogba – 6.5

Wasn’t really able to get involved regularly, and didn’t do enough with the ball when he got it.
