The ambitious Dutchman has called on his players to win their remaining fifteen games and launch a bid for the title, though Chelsea opened up a seven-point lead over second-placed Manchester City yesterday.

“It shall be very difficult to catch Chelsea, but it is mathematically possible,” van Gaal said.

“So we shall try to do everything we can to win every game.

“We are capable of doing that, it’s not that I don’t believe in it.

“When you see the last 16 matches, we have only lost one with seven or eight goals conceded — so that is not so much.”
