This news comes after it was revealed the Chelsea legend is to extend his spell at the current Premier League champions until the end of the season.

Manchester City had originally claimed that the midfielder had only joined on loan from the new MLS club until January 1st, when he would join up with his new team mates.

The Citizens were forced to come clean upon announcing Lampard would stay at the Etihad until the end of the season, explaining that he had signed on a ‘heads of term’ agreement leaving them free to keep the player for the rest of the season if they wanted to.

The 36-year-old has performed well for City this season having been mainly restricted to substitute appearances but still managing to bag seven goals, including one against his former club, Chelsea.
