Manchester United Are The Best Team In England Says Louis Van Gaal
Here’s how we rated the Red Devils individual performances:
David De Gea: 6
Wasn’t at fault for either goal, having to put up with woeful defending from the first and a bad deflection for number two. Had very little to do for the rest of the game.
Patrick McNair: 4 (Valencia 45′)
Hesitant in possession, no end product and an all round shocker for the youngster. Rightly substituted after the first half.
Phil Jones: 5
It was painfully obvious he had just come back from injury and hadn’t been in the side for a while. His constant failure to create an understanding with Rojo will continue to cost his side points.
Marcos Rojo: 6
Other than the second goal, kept Gomis quiet, but looks uncomfortable in defence, which will be a worry for van Gaal.
Luke Shaw: 6 (Young 58′)
Little end product from his constant bombing forward, was also at fault for Swansea’s equaliser.
Daley Blind: 6
A lot more comfortable as a midfielder than defender and didn’t make any glaring mistakes. Should have closed down Shelvey before his shot, though he can’t be blamed for the deflection.
Ander Herrera: 8
A shining light for the Red Devils, their fans will be delighted he is starting more games. Scored, made a goal line clearance and looks like he could go on to be a great player for them.
Angel di Maria: 5 (Mata 79′)
It’s a shame watching di Maria at the moment, a player who recently shone for great teams in huge games continues to lack end product, or build-up play for that matter, for his side.
Marouane Fellaini: 6
Was a menace to Swansea’s defence occasionally, but couldn’t keep control of his frustrations and was booked.
Wayne Rooney: 6
Will have been pleased to slot back into his more familiar role up front, but didn’t set the world alight. Lost the ball through a poor touch on more than one occasion, but dropped into the no. 10 role well, showing his creativity.
Robin van Persie: 5
A question mark continually hangs over his Manchester United career, as to whether he will ever rediscover the form he showed under Alex Ferguson. At the moment it looks like a resounding no.
Subs:
Antonio Valencia: 5
Got forward well but was too hesitant when in the right positions. Again, no end product.
Ashley Young: 6
Brought some much needed width to the side and had a dangerous delivery, didn’t effect the final result though.
Juan Mata: 5
Struggled in an unfamiliar position and didn’t have enough time to get into the game.
