8) Fernando Llorente (Juventus)

An uninspiring choice, Juventus flop Fernando Llorente has today been linked with a move to Arsenal, despite scoring only five goals all season. Certainly no upgrade on Olivier Giroud or Danny Welbeck and one that should be avoided.

7) Andre-Pierre Gignac (Marseille)

Available on a free, Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has been strongly linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool, but he doesn’t look the most convincing option out there and probably wouldn’t gather as much interest if not for his contract situation.

6) Paulo Dybala (Palermo)

A highly impressive youngster being tracked by Arsenal, Palermo striker Paulo Dybala is not yet the finished article and perhaps needs another season of first-team football in Serie A before moving on to a bigger club.

5) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Undoubtedly a top class striker on his day, Edinson Cavani has not been at his best at PSG and perhaps looks a tad expensive for Arsenal if rumoured fees of between £50-60m are to be believed.

4) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

A highly exciting young striker, Alexandre Lacazette has been on fire for Lyon this season and has been linked with Arsenal and other top clubs. There seems little reason not to go for him, as he would surely improve even further under Arsene Wenger.

3) Jackson Martinez (Porto)

A goal machine in Portugal, Jackson Martinez has long been linked with bigger moves, and Arsenal now appear to be his main suitors. Still, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking the £40m-rated Colombian.

2) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Perhaps a tad unrealistic, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been linked with Arsenal and other clubs after failing to settle at the Allian Arena. The Polish international would surely be a great fit for the Gunners if they could get him, but he surely won’t be leaving so soon.

1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Surely the best of the bunch, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has been linked with a surprise exit from the club and has put on Arsenal on alert. The Gunners surely have to pounce for the world class Frenchman, even if it ends up being a club-record fee.
