GK – Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 6/10
A solid performance from Barca’s young stopper, who was unlucky not to have come away with a clean-sheet.
RB – Dani Alves – 6/10
A key player in his side’s attacking threat, as he broke forward time after time with City unable to keep up with the attacking full-back.
CB – Gerard Pique – 7/10
The Spanish international put in a superb performance – especially given the shaky performance of Mascherano – sniffing out any danger from City and mopping up the Argentine’s mistakes.
CB – Javier Mascherano – 5/10
Suffered a difficult second-half, as the Citizens cranked up the tempo, with the midfielder-turned-defender struggling to cope with striker Sergio Aguero.
Was, however, good going forward.
LB – Jordi Alba – 6/10
Excelled both defensively and offensively – with his pace troubling the City defence.
RCM – Ivan Rakitic – 5/10
The 26-year-old finds time and space often, but is let down by his decision-making and inferior passing ability to his team-mates.
CM – Sergio Busquets – 6/10
A measured performance by the midfielder, who thrived under the space allowed by the Citizens.
LCM – Andres Iniesta – 6/10
Like his midfield team-mates, the Spaniard enjoyed the time allowed by City’s 4-4-2 formation, and linked up well with Alba on the flank.
RF – Lionel Messi – 8/10
Messi may have missed a stoppage time penalty, but the little magician was outstanding, as he was impossible for City to stop.
CF – Luis Suarez – 7/10
Perhaps Suarez’s best performance in a Barca shirt. It’s his double that gives La Liga giants the advantage, which is sure to reignite the grieving from Liverpool fans.
LF – Neymar – 6/10
The Brazilian wasn’t quite as outstanding as his attacking partners, yet was still a threat, particularly with his pace.
