The 24 year old has failed to impress for large swathes of his debut season in Germany following his move from Serie A’s Torino.

The Italian was signed as a like-for-like replacement for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski who left BVB in the summer on a free.

Immobile was previously touted as a target for Liverpool who have also had issues with their forward line this season and it was thought Dortmund might allow him to leave given his inconsistent form.

But the striker has sought to definitively clarify his future by denying any desire to leave the Westfalenstadion.

“I chose my path and I’m going to follow it all the way to the end,” said Immbobile to La Gazette hello Sport via Daily Star.

“I would do this again. I feel I’m at the right level to play with Borussia Dortmund.

“After the [German] triumph in the World Cup some of our players were a bit too distracted and we could not replicate in the matches what we were doing in training.

“The hardship I encountered when coming into this team didn’t help me integrate myself. But it’s not true that [Jurgen] Klopp doesn’t help me. We talk a lot.

“People only remember what they want to remember. Even [Robert] Lewandowski only scored seven goals in his first year, then he started winning and scoring and he left a good memory of himself.

“Hopefully I’ll get the same opportunity.”

Dortmund have recevied a boost in recent weeks with Marco Reus agreeing a new, long-term contract whilst Ilkay Gundogan has hinted he too might be about to commit his future to the club.
