Shield your eyes!
Earlier this week, Barcelona sporting director Carles Rexach accused Real Madrid president Florentino Perez of selling Angel di Maria to Manchester United because the Argentina star was too ugly for the Galacticos.
If Perez does indeed base his transfer policy, partly at least, on looks, here are five other top players who won’t be moving to the Bernabeu any time soon…
Wayne Rooney
The Man United skipper has been linked with Real in the past, but, even though he has had a sexy hair implant since this photo was taken, we reckon he’s still a long way off in the looks department.
Mesut Ozil
Ozil was a Real player, before they shipped him off to Arsenal for £42.5m 18 months ago. The German international displayed some truly brilliant form during his time in Spain, so it may well have been his looks that led to his sale!
Sam Allardyce
The West Ham boss is not a player anymore, but you could definitely call him ugly, although best not to say it to his face. Allardyce is confident that he could work wonders at the Bernabeu. In 2010, he said: “I’m not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Internazionale or Real Madrid. It wouldn’t be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time.” Sorry Sam, we’ll never find out if you’re right…
Luis Suarez
Real were briefly linked with Suarez before he moved from Liverpool to Barcelona last summer. Was this face, the reason he didn’t move to Madrid?
Harry Kane
We feel a little harsh calling Kane ugly, but at least we are admitting he is a top player!
