Manchester United transfer news
Although the experienced Brazilian would be available on a free, it may be worth spending a bit more to land a player not past his best or ones more proven in the Premier League…
1) Seamus Coleman (Everton)
Linked several times with Manchester United, Everton right-back Seamus Coleman has been a highly impressive performer in recent seasons, and is also on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the summer.
2) Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)
Another of the finest right-backs in the Premier League this season, Southampton’s Nathaniel Clyne has been strongly linked as a top target for Louis van Gaal, and is a more long-term option than Alves.
3) Danilo (Porto)
A player attracting plenty of interest at the moment, Real Madrid may be leading the chase for Porto right-back Danilo, but United and Liverpool have also shown an interest and the Red Devils would do well to land the talented 23-year-old.
4) Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus)
A key member of Juventus’ recent title-winning sides, Stephan Lichtsteiner would be another wise buy for United, though Arsenal are also known to be admirers of the Swiss international, who would be an ideal wing-back in van Gaal’s 3-5-2 system.
5) Mattia De Sciglio (AC Milan)
One of the brightest prospects in Italy, AC Milan right-back Mattia De Sciglio has also been linked with United in the past and is another more long-term option who could be a better buy than Alves.
