Manchester United Boss Louis Van Gaal Reveals Why Radamel Falcao Was Dropped

The Colombian was left on the bench against Newcastle United on Wednesday…

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he chose Marouane Fellaini ahead of Radamel Falcao against Newcastle United to beat the Magpies’ ‘pressure’, reports the Daily Express.

The Colombian has been in bad form, but his boss seems adamant that this is not the reason behind being left on the bench. Fellaini has been used by the 63-year-old when he decides to use a more direct style of play so far this season.

He said: “We want to beat the pressure with him. We expect Newcastle to press us, so maybe with Fellaini we will beat the pressure more easily.”

If what the former Barcelona man says is to be believed then it is a big step down for United to be worrying about how much the Toon are going to attack them. In the past the Red Devils were more known for the manner in which they took the game to the opposition, especially those below them in the league.
