Alexandre Lacazette – Lyon – £25m

2014/15 goals: 25

There are only two players with more goals than Lacazette’s 25 this season – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The 23-year-old is in red-hot form this season, and his pace would fit straight into an ageing Old Trafford front-line. Not to mention the striker has years of playing time ahead of him. Could be a steal at £25m.

Mauro Icardi – Inter Milan – £30m

2014/15 goals: 16

Inter’s star striker this season is likely to eye a move away from the Serie A giants with the club languishing mid-table, and set to miss out on the Champions League.

With similar style to Red Devils skipper Wayne Rooney, in his desire to drop deep and find the ball, he could be an exciting partner to the England forward.

Memphis Depay – PSV – £20m

2014/15 goals: 18

The 21-year-old is quickly becoming one of the most sought after strikers in Europe, and PSV have reportedly told him he can leave in the summer.

What’s more, as a Netherlands international, Louis van Gaal knows him well.

Depay has mostly played on the left flank this term, yet whether on the wing or playing through the middle, the forward is an excellent finisher.

Edinson Cavani – Paris Saint-Germain – £50m

2014/15 goals: 18

The Uruguayan made the move to the French capital in a colossal £55m move, but has been hit with criticism since his arrival in Paris, and has reportedly fallen out with boss Laurent Blanc.

Nonetheless, often shunned out to the wing, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic filling the central role, Cavani has still proved a goalscoring threat.

However, with PSG wanting £50m, it would certainly be an unwise move to spend such a sizeable amount on a player not far off the milestone of 30-years-old.

Javier Hernandez – Manchester United – Free

2014/15 goals: 3

The 26-year-old may not be given much playing time on loan at Real Madrid – but in fairness to the ‘Little Pea’, he is competing with world-class forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale for a place.

Hernandez is the only player on this list proven to withstand the bullish nature and quick pace of the Premier League, as well as being a clinical finisher.

But what’s even better – the Mexico international would cost the Red Devils nothing.

Karim Benzema – Real Madrid – £40m

2014/15 goals: 19

The Frenchman has been in fine form this term – and while most would struggle to contend with the goals of Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker certainly isn’t doing a bad job of keeping up.

Liverpool were tipped to move for Benzema in the January window, but it’s likely Real’s £40m price-tag left them unsure.

As a strong centre-forward, it’s easy to see Benzema adapting to the Premier League in no time – like international team-mate and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
