Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘romance’ with Real Madrid is dead, claims Spanish newspaper

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly angered by the poor performance of his side in their 4-3 defeat to Schalke 04 on Tuesday night – and if the slump continues, the Portuguese star could be on his way out of the Santiago Bernabeu.

Following the defeat, the 30-year-old was seen telling team-mate Karim Benzema, “what an embarrassment“, and later refused to speak to the media until the end of the season.

Spanish newspaper Sport claims that the romance between Ronaldo and Real is ‘broken’, and the World Player of the Year’s strops this term could mark the end of his illustrious time with the La Liga giants.

His reaction to the defeat to Schalke is of such significance that the newspaper even states: ‘From now nothing will ever be the same. The romance between the Portuguese star and Real Madrid has come to an end.’

Such rumours are sure to put Manchester United on high-alert, with the former Old Trafford ace constantly linked with a move back to the club.
