According to his club, Silva refused to watch Sunday’s game against Arsenal de Sarandi, resulting in the draconian punishment.

Allegedly the player was upset after being he would not be involved in the game. He then refused watch the match with his fellow non-playing squad members, and failed to show up to training on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The club management decided to sanction him with a 30-day suspension, and the troublesome striker will now not be able to attend team training sessions nor receive his salary.

Argentine media report that Lanus had hoped to terminate his contract, but according to Martin Guastadisegno, Silva’s agent, they could not come to an agreement. Silva’s current deal runs until June 30th.
