Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has moved to ease fears that the club could lose two of it’s key players this summer, as contract negotiations with Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson fail to progress.

Last night, it was revealed that Sterling has ruled out further discussing a new deal until the summer, but despite the blow Rodgers remains confident that the 20-year-old will eventually commit his future to Anfield.
Sterling’s current deal expires in 2017, while Henderson’s contract comes to an end after next season. Both players are angling for a pay rise that will see them earn around £100,000-per-week, but the Reds are determined to be cautious over any potential big money deals.
“There is nothing new to report,” said Rodgers, who was quoted by the Daily Express. “I am relaxed about the Raheem situation. He has a couple of years to go.
“It is quite obvious that Liverpool Football Club is the best option for him. He has just turned 20 in December and he has already made 114 appearances.
“He has a great opportunity and for any young player there is a great opportunity here. We have a track record of developing talents and there will be more of those players like Raheem who will get that opportunity.
“I speak to Raheem about his football. Players have to leave the negotiations to their representatives and focus on the football. The club wants to ensure Raheem and Jordan Henderson have a future here.”
