The Premier League is often praised for it’s aggressive nature, with officials allowing some hefty challenges to go by without punishment, which in turn leads to more open and attractive football.
However, there are a few players who overstep the mark and have since gained a reputation, with their yellow card tally evidence of that.

Here are eight Premier League players who seem yellow card hungry.
1. Mathieu Flamini
The Arsenal man is one of the most combative players in the Premier League and his return to the club in 2013 has reminded many of what the Frenchman is about. It seems as though Wenger must legislate for two games where Flamini will inevitably be missing due to his yellow card tally.
2. Charlie Adam
A few Stoke City players could realistically make the list but in fairness to the Potteries, Adam has always loved a beastly challenge and has since become well acquainted with the referees in the Premier League.
3. Sandro
The former Spurs man seemed like the complete midfield player but as the pace dwindled, tackles were mistimed and Sandro has gained a reputation for his constant bookings.
4. Gareth Barry
According to this list (via Daily Mail), Barry is the most booked player in Premier League history – enough said.
5. Kevin Nolan
One of the few old school midfielders left in the Premier League and Nolan is prominent on the above list. His long standing relationship with current boss Sam Allardyce has been a match made in yellow cards.
6. Branislav Ivanovic
When the Chelsea main complained about the aggressive nature of Ashley Barnes’ in the infamous clash against Burnley earlier on in the season, one couldn’t help but have a wry smile given Ivanovic’s constant cynical play.
7. Karl Henry
Introduced himself to the Premier League whilst captaining Wolves a couple of seasons ago and is always on the brink of a red card, never mind a yellow card.
8. Craig Gardner
Gardner has completed his Midlands tour ending up at West Brom having played for Birmingham City and Aston Villa, the midfielder was one of the highest booked players in the 2010-11 season.
