So with that firmly in mind, here are ten of the division’s top stars that we’d like to come to the Premier League next season:

10) Bas Dost (Wolfsburg)

The 25-year-old Dutchman has been a revelation so far this season, bagging 15 goals in 21 games, including four in the epic 5-4 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The former Heerenveen star would be a strong fit for any mid-table Premier League side with aspirations of making it to Europe.

9) Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen)

The twin brother of Borussia Dortmund star Sven Bender, as well as a full German international, the 25-year-old defensive midfielder joined Leverkusen in 2009, and has been a key player ever since. Arsenal have shown an interest in the past, and he’s suit any top Premier League side.

8) Patrick Herrmann (Borussia Monchengladbach)

The 24-year-old took his seasonal goal tally to 14 with a brace against Hannover last weekend, and now looks destined for big things, with his stock very much on the rise. Would be an excellent signing for an ambitious Premier League side, preferably chasing a European spot.

7) Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)

How times have changed for the man dubbed not good enough by Chelsea last year. The Belgian has been unstoppable so far this season, and has arguably been the best player in the division. Could his 14 goals and 22 assists in all competitions earn him a move back to London?

6) Julian Draxler (Schalke)

Arsenal were fond admirers of Draxler the summer before last, but were eventually knocked back. The German international has unfortunately struggled with injuries since then, but at just 21 still has bags of potential. Could Tottenham make their local rivals rue passing him over?

5) Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

One of the most wanted defenders on the continent. Manchester United, Arsenal and many others have been alerted to his potential availability following Dortmund’s poor season, which is unlikely to end in European qualification. The ideal signing for any elite Premier League club.

4) Roberto Firmino (Hoffenheim)

Liverpool have recently been linked with a move for the £18m rated Brazilian, who at just 23 is definitely another one for the future. Firmino is the prize asset of a talented young Hoffenheim squad, and would be a useful squad player for any of the big clubs, or a star man lower down.

3) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

One of the best players in the world, only his injury problems have stood in the way of him going to the next level. Like Hummels, he won’t be short of offers come the summer, and it will be interesting to see where he elects to go. There’s little doubt that he’d suit any English side.

2) Hakan Calhanoglu (Bayer Leverkusen)

The Turk has been described as the ‘new Mesut Ozil’ by several reporters, and that is meant as a compliment, rather than a reference to the Gunners’ struggling £40m star. The 21-year-old has also become known for his world class free-kicks, making him all the more appealing.

1) Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Munich only signed the Polish international in the summer, but despite 17 goals already this season, there are suggestions of discontent surrounding the player and his life in the German capital. Could Arsenal, or any other Premier League club, take advantage.
