The Blues could offer the Welshman around £300,000 per week to move to Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho desperate to take advantage of his uncertain situation at the Bernabeu.

It remains to be seen if £72.3m would be enough to persuade Real to let Bale go, with the Spanish giants only just paying a world-record £85m to sign him less than two years ago.

The 25-year-old has, however failed to live up to expectations in Madrid after starring in the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
