Carlos Eduardo was one of the most impressive performers of the Ligue 1 weekend, scoring a sublime overhead kick to open the scoring for OGC Nice against Olympique Lyonnais.

The goal set the Nicois on their way to an unlikely 2-1 victory. Despite contending with a relegation battle and persistent crowd troubles that have forced them to play behind closed doors at the Allianz Riviera, and despite travelling away to league leaders Lyon, Nice secured an unlikely triumph.

Maxime Gonalons cancelled out Eduardo’s effort from the spot, but Bakary Kone brought down Alassane Plea late on before Valentin Eysseric scored a penalty of his own to secure the victory for the Aiglons.

It’s not the first time that Eduardo—nicknamed the Inconsistent Pele—has done something remarkable in a match.

At the end of October he bagged a magnificent five goals as Nice thrashed En Avant de Guingamp 7-2.

Although he is currently on loan at Nice from FC Porto, it looks unlikely that Le Gym will be able to recruit the player permanently once his current temporary spell comes to an end.

The Brazilian has contributed nine goals and two assists in the French top flight so far this season.

Porto chiefs will likely be licking their lips at the prospect of welcoming such a deliriously talented player back to Portugal at the end of the current campaign.
