Where are they now: Liverpool’s Anfield charity match squads, from Luis Suarez to Jay Spearing

There will be a mass reunion at Anfield today as Liverpool heroes from the last decade come together for the much talked about Anfield charity match!

Teams led by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will go head-to-head, in a game that has also been dubbed by many as the former’s second testimonial game. In addition to a wealth of ex-Liverpool stars, a number of the duo’s friends and rivals from the game will also take part.

As we build-up to the game’s 3pm kick-off, here’s a look at the two squads, and where they are now:

TEAM GERRARD

Brad Jones – Liverpool current second choice goalkeeper, recently recovered from injury.

Glen Johnson – Current Liverpool squad member. His contract expires at the end of the season and he looks unlikely to stay.

Kevin Nolan – Born in Liverpool. Currently with West Ham United after spells with Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers.

Scott Dann – Also born in Liverpool. Worked his way up through the football league, now impressing in the top flight with Crystal Palace.

Ashley Williams – Defender known well by Brendan Rodgers from his time at Swansea City. A former Liverpool transfer target.

John Arne Riise – Spent seven years with the Reds, winning the Champions League and the FA Cup. Now in Cyprus with APOEL.

Luis Suarez – The scorer of 31 goals for Liverpool last season, now impressing with Barcelona following his £75m summer move.

Steven Gerrard – Current Liverpool captain, due to join MLS side LA Galaxy when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Fernando Torres – Former Anfield favourite. Controversially joined Chelsea for £50m in January 2011, now back with Atletico Madrid.

Rickie Lambert – Current Liverpool squad member. Currently struggling for game-time and dropped from the England squad.

Xabi Alonso – Scored in the 2005 Champions League final. Now with Bayern Munich following a successful spell with Real Madrid.

Thierry Henry – Legendary French striker previously of Arsenal and Barcelona. Recently retired after playing with the New York Red Bulls.

Charlie Adam – Spent just one season with Liverpool. Left the Reds for Stoke City in 2012 and remains an important part of their squad.

Ryan Babel – Former Liverpool starlet who has found it tough since leaving Anfield. Currently in Turkey with Kasimpasa.

Jay Spearing – Former Liverpool academy prospect. Recently joined Blackburn Rovers on loan after leaving Bolton Wanderers.

John Terry – Current Chelsea captain. Has recently signed a new contract to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Stephen Warnock – Former Liverpool academy prospect. Has enjoyed a steady football league career, and is now with Derby County.

Anthony Gerrard – Steven Gerrard’s cousin. Currently on loan at League One Oldham Athletic, having left Huddersfield Town.

Joao Carlos Teixeira – Current Liverpool academy prospect. Currently impressing on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion.

TEAM CARRAGHER

Jose Enrique – Current Liverpool squad member. Has missed most of this season and last through injury.

Luis Garcia – Integral part of Liverpool’s 2005 Champions League side. Currently enjoying semi-retirement with Indian franchise Kolkata.

Didier Drogba – Back with Chelsea following a couple of years in Turkey, a regular foe for Liverpool down the years.

Craig Noone – Currently plays for Cardiff City having worked his way up from non-league. Once worked on an extension at Gerrard’s house.

Harry Kewell – Started the 2005 Champions League final. Has now retired after finishing his career back in Australia.

Alvaro Arbeloa – Former Liverpool full-back, still playing a bit-part role for Real Madrid.

Alberto Moreno – Current Liverpool squad member. The young Spaniard has impressed this season since joining from Sevilla.

Stewart Downing – Currently playing a starring role for West Ham United, having joined the Hammers from Liverpool back in 2013.

Lucas Leiva – Current Liverpool squad member. The Anfield faithful will no doubt be pleased to see the Brazilian step up his injury return.

Gael Clichy – The French full-back is currently first-choice for Manchester City, who he joined from Arsenal in 2011.

Jamie Carragher – Former Liverpool vice-captain. The iconic defender will be looking to spoil Steven Gerrard’s big day. Now a TV pundit.

Pepe Reina – Former Liverpool goalkeeper, now with Bayern Munich following a loan spell at Napoli.

Fabio Borini – Current Liverpool squad member. The Italian will be looking to add to his sparse Anfield goal tally.

Peter Gulacsi – Former Liverpool goalkeeper, currently with Red Bull Salzburg following a succession of loan moves in England.

Jonjo Shelvey – Former Liverpool midfielder now with Swansea City, after being recommended by Brendan Rodgers.

Martin Kelly – Former Liverpool academy prospect, now with Crystal Palace after failing to make the grade with the Reds.

Jon Flanagan – Current Liverpool squad member. Set to make his return from injury today after spending the season on the sidelines.

Craig Bellamy – Enjoyed two spells with Liverpool, but is perhaps best remembered for the infamous golf swing incident with John Arne Riise.

Mario Balotelli – Current Liverpool squad member. Left out of the Italian squad this week and looking to show what he can do.

Jerome Sinclair – Current Liverpool squad member. Looking to show what he can do on the big stage. Currently on loan at Wigan Athletic.
