The two giants of the French domestic game will meet at the Stade Velodrome on Easter Sunday.

PSG beat FC Lorient last Friday evening, a result which, combined with Lyon’s unexpected loss to OGC Nice, left them at the top of Ligue 1 heading into the international break.

Laurent Blanc’s reigning champions sit one point ahead of Lyon in second and two ahead of their opponents this weekend, Marseille, who find themselves in third.

OM were unfortunate not to have taken maximum points from their last heavyweight clash at the Velodrome—the 0-0 draw with Lyon—and having romped past Racing Club de Lens last weekend, will head into the French Clasico full of confidence.

“We all know that the game next weekend is super-important,” Fanni began, speaking to Ligue1.com ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

“We have an all-conquering mind-set. We want to finish at the very least in the top three, or even better.”

Fanni may be coming to the end of his stay at Marseille-his contract expires this summer-but he played a crucial role in the 4-0 demolition of Lens last weekend.

“We must be ambitious. We only think about winning, to garner maximum points. The way to achieve something beautiful this year is clear.”
