The Portugal centre-back will miss Friday evening’s clash against AS Saint-Etienne after spraining his knee in action for the Seleccao against Serbia last week.

While Monaco are optimistic that the veteran stopper is not facing an extended absence, he has been ruled out for the Ligue 1 clash this weekend.

Abdennour, by contrast, returns to the club after an international break when Morocco faced Uruguay and Burkina Faso.

As reported by Monaco’s official Twitter account, either he or the Italian will start in defence against the Stephanois at the Stade Louis II.
