The Clarets, on the other hand, could potentially lift themselves out of the relegation zone with a result at Turf Moor and have been known to pull of shock results this season, as Manchester City know.
Here’s how Spurs should line up in Lancashire:
GK – Michel Vorm
Tottenham’s number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is likely to sit this one out following the gash he picked up before the international break against Leicester. Vorm should be a more than able deputy.
DR – Kyle Walker
The attacking full-back has been a more regular fixture for Spurs recently and will fancy his chances getting at a shaky Burnley defence, but will have to track back.
CB – Jan Vertonghen
The Belgian’s experience is invaluable to Tottenham’s back four, though he will have to be on his game to help protect his defensive partner against wily Burnley attackers.
CB – Eric Dier
At only 21 years of age, Dier has coped well with the rigours of regular Premier League football, despite a few mistakes which are always a possibility with youngsters. He will need to up his physicality against a battle-toughened Clarets.
DL – Danny Rose
Another attacking full-back for Tottenham who has been a regular name on the teamsheet. Rose has scored three and assisted four this season, testament to his attacking threat, but he can be exposed easily.
DMC – Nabil Bentaleb
The Algerian defensive midfielder has shown performances which belie his young age. His calmness, composure and physicality will be much needed at Turf Moor.
CM – Ryan Mason
Mason is well versed in lower league football, following loan spells at the likes of Swindon, Doncaster and Yeovil, and that could stand him in good stead against a side who are fighting relegation to the Championship.
AMR – Erik Lamela
The Argentine had a disappointing first season in the Premier League, following his big m0ney move from Roma. He’s started to show glimpses of why Tottenham paid £30 million for his services, on his day he could blow any side away.
AML – Nacer Chadli
The Belgian forward has scored an impressive 10 goals this season and assisted five, and will be eyeing even more as his side try to close in on their outside Champions League shout.
AMC – Christian Eriksen
Eriksen is the man who makes things happen for his side, occasionally chipping in with the odd spectacular free-kick. Harry Kane may get all the headlines, but Spurs would be a lot worse off without the little Danish magician.
ST – Harry Kane
The striker has had one of the best seasons imaginable, furthering his cause over the international break after scoring only 80 seconds into his senior England debut. 29 goals and counting, will there be a Footballer of the Year trophy as well?
