The Franco-Cameroonian forward has been dubbed ‘The New Thierry Henry’ following his superb form in the French top flight.

It’s easy to see why the 19-year-old has prompted such an elevated comparison.

Like the Arsenal great, he can thrive in wide areas, moving into channels, or as a central striker where he has the pace to get in behind the centre-backs of Ligue 1 to devastating effect.

His acceleration is remarkable, while his powerful thighs and impressive agility bring back memories of Henry—who featured for both Monaco and Juventus during a glittering career.

His finishing—while still inconsistent—is showing signs of promise, and Martial found himself on the scoresheet again against Stade Malherbe Caen when he met a Yannick Ferreira Carrasco cross to give ASM the lead.

However, it’s fair to say that Martial is not yet the finished article. He has previously been criticised for his wastefulness in possession and his poor decision-making, and against Caen he was guilty of one horrendous miss.

He is unlikely to start against Juve, but if he features, will he be able to flourish and convince the doubters that his career could follow a similar trajectory to that of Henry?
