Samuel was speaking on Sky Sports Sunday Supplement show and he has highlighted the former Tottenham winger as a vital signing for Louis van Gaal in the summer if they are to land a 21st league title next season.

“I think Manchester United could possibly win the league next season.” he claimed

“But if they get Gareth Bale, they will definitely win the league. They are the upcoming team.” he added.

Bale has been linked with a return to the Premier League since last summer and there had been rumours earlier in the week that a potential swap deal with Angel Di Maria was on the cards.

But Zinedine Zidane, who is the coach of Castilla (Madrid’s B team), last week moved to dismiss claims that the winger would depart the Bernabeu in the next transfer window and insisted the club wants to hold on to their star players.

Speculation over Bale’s future will continue right through the summer until we get a definitive word from the player.
