1) Amazing stats

Forget Harry Kane – this guy is a real goalscoring prodigy! Alexandre Lacazette has a superb record of 30 goals in 30 games in all competitions this season, plus six assists for his team-mates. Statistically, he is ranked on WhoScored.com as the 10th best player in Europe this term, and only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have scored more league goals than the Frenchman, who has 26 in total in Ligue 1.

Why Mourinho is wrong – his Chelsea team is boring and that is a problem

2) He’s been a prodigy for some time

Still only 23, Lacazette is already a fairly experienced player, having made his first-team debut as a teen prodigy all the way back in the 2009/10 season. By 2011/12, the youngster was already a regular starter, making 43 appearances and scoring ten goals that year.

3) Set to start for France

With 19 goals at various youth levels for France, Lacazette now looks like becoming a regular for the senior side, and has one goal in six caps for Didier Deschamps’ side so far, with many more surely set to come.

4) Compared with Thierry Henry

Lyon’s president has made the inevitable comparison with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Although Lacazette has some way to go before achieving the amazing things his fellow countryman did in the game, he looks to have that same raw talent and incredible finishing ability to complement his pace and all-round skill.

5) …and Henry’s a fan

Henry himself is a big fan of what he’s seen so far from Lacazette, which may be just about the biggest compliment the player can get at this stage, so will he get the chance to follow in the footsteps of the Arsenal legend and star upfront for the Gunners?
