The 38-year-old is currently in charge of Manchester City’s Reserve side and is highly rated at the Etihad Stadium as a possible City boss of the future, with some speculation already arising that he could be in line to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the end of this season.

Still, according to The Sun, it may also be that Vieira will be in-demand in his native France this summer, with Marseille considering the future of current boss Marcelo Bielsa.

Former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas is also said to be in the frame, though Vieira is one of the preferred options to lead the club into a new era after recent struggles under Bielsa.

The Frenchman is keen to make the move into senior management before long and could be tempted by Marseille if there isn’t an offer from City.
