The Reds certainly need to improve in attack after failing to adequately replace Luis Suarez last summer, while doubts remain over their current forward options.

According to recent speculation, here’s a look at the players heading out and in at the club this summer, arguably leaving the team looking stronger than before despite a big-name exit…

Out – Raheem Sterling

Strongly linked with Manchester City, Raheem Sterling’s exit will no doubt be a big blow if he does leave Liverpool, though the club could bring in a lot of money from his sale.

In – Memphis Depay

Some of that cash could then be spent on signing highly-rated PSV starlet Memphis Depay, who is also attracting strong interest from Manchester United.

Out – Mario Balotelli

A failed signing, Mario Balotelli has been dreadful since joining Liverpool from AC Milan, and is surely on his way out this summer, though Napoli denied an interest in him earlier this year.

In – Christian Benteke

A striker in superb form right now, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke would be the ideal replacement for Balotelli upfront, and also help fill the void left by Luis Suarez.

Out – Rickie Lambert

A disappointment since joining from Southampton, Rickie Lambert could also be shown the door this summer after looking somewhat out of his depth at this level.

In – Danny Ings

A player who would make a better third choice than Lambert, Burnley front-man Danny Ings could make the move to Anfield, according to reports.

Out – Glen Johnson

Heading towards the end of his contract, Glen Johnson is surely preparing to quit the Reds and has been linked with a move abroad to AS Roma.

In – James Milner

Another free agent, James Milner looks set to leave Manchester City and make the move to their rivals Liverpool in what could be a smart move to help replace Steven Gerrard.
