Brendan Rodgers made three changes from the side that lost to Hull City in midweek, with Gerrard returning in place of Joe Allen, Adam Lallana replacing Jordon Ibe, and Rickie Lambert coming in for Mario Balotelli.

Here are the player ratings:

GK: Simon Mignolet – 7

Quiet day for the stop stopper. Did what he had to with minimal fuss and was helpless for the QPR goal.

CB: Emre Can – 7

Cool, calm, collected. He will be massive for the Reds next term.

CB: Martin Skrtel – 7

Liverpool’s best defender by a mile. Impossible to beat in the air.

CB: Dejan Lovren – 6

Has found some excellent form towards the end of the season. Might be a player to watch next season after a rocky start.

LWB: Glen Johnson – 7

Quiet but effective, his best game for a long time.

RWB: Raheem Sterling – 8

Had a first half goal disallowed for offside and looked threatening thoughout. Liverpool will be hoping he stays.

CM: Steven Gerrard (c) – 8

Played the deep lying role brilliantly. He’ll be a huge loss for Liverpool once he leaves. Missed pen but scored winner.

CM: Jordan Henderson – 7

Driven and dynamic – the natural replacement for the departing captain.

CM: Adam Lallana – 6

It was Lallana first start since late March, but it looked like a player who wanted to stay at Anfield after the impending summer clearout.

AM: Philippe Coutinho – 8

Tricky and nippy, no matter who the opposition, Coutinho always causes problems.

ST: Rickie Lambert – 7

Looked strong up front. A good target man who could feel like he deserved more chances this term.
