Arsenal yet to offer midfield star new contract, open the door to offers from Spain

Arsenal star Santi Cazorla has revealed that the Gunners haven’t contacted him about a new contract yet and it is down to them to do so, according to an interview in Marca.

The Spaniard only has one year left on his current deal at the Emirates, and Atletico Madrid are supposed to be interested in bringing him back to Spain.

However, the 30-year-old has no plans to leave the club yet, and is currently playing a key part in their midfield next to Francis Coquelin. He has appeared in 33 of Arsenal’s 35 Premier League matches so far, scoring seven goals and creating nine others.

As such it would be a surprise if manager Arsene Wenger were to let him go on a free transfer-as Bacary Sagna did last summer when he moved to rivals Manchester City.

Cazorla said: “No one has called me. I have a one year contract and we will see what Arsenal think about the possibility of extending the contract. I do not plan anything else for now.”
