Arsenal and Liverpool target set for decision on future

Manchester City midfielder James Milner is set to decide his future in the coming week, amid interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

The England international is out-of-contract at the end of next month and is yet to commit his future to last season’s Barclays Premier League champions, which has naturally prompted speculation that he could seek a new challenge in the summer.

Reports in the Mail Online have revealed that Milner is unlikely to make a move abroad which would leave City, Arsenal and Liverpool sweating over the decision of where the 29-year-old will play his football next season.

The former Aston Villa man is thought to be weighing up his options with regular first team football in his preferred central midfield role at the top of his demands. He would like to continue playing in the Champions League, which would rule out the Merseyside outfit after they can no longer finish in the top-four.

Milner was on the scoresheet for the second successive game in City’s 4-2 victory over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they strengthened their grip on second place in the table.
