Brazil suffered humiliation at the 2014 World Cup, being dumped out at the semi-final stages of the competition, which they hosted, with an incredible 7-1 defeat at the hands of eventual winners Germany.

The South American giants have had plenty of criticisms for failing to meet expectations since winning the World Cup in 2002, and it has now emerged, according to ESPN, that selection issues may be playing a part.

It seems that coaches of the national team no longer have the final say over who is called up into Brazil’s squads, with the Cayman Islands-based company insisting that ‘A Team’ players are selected in every game, which may go against the good of the team in terms of tactical setup and other factors.

The CBF, Brazil’s football federation, have reportedly moved to deny this rumour.
