A Saido Berahino double and a Chris Brunt effort condemned the Blues to their first defeat since New Years Day.

Take a look at how we have rated Jose Mourinho’s side against The Baggies:

GK) Thibaut Courtois – 5

Mixed game for the young Belgian as he pulled off a great stop to deny Callum McManaman early on, but should have done better with the penalty and Chris Brunt’s effort that beat him at the near post.

RB) Branislav Ivanovic – 5

Strangely subdued performance from the right-back, who was not helped by the sending off of Fabregas. After that, he wasn’t able to attack at will down the flank as usual.

CB) Gary Cahill – 5

The England international didn’t seem up for the game and his performance suffered because of it. He simply couldn’t cope with the pace and movement of Berahino.

CB) John Terry – 4

Poor performance from the Blues skipper which was compounded as he conceded a penalty with an awful challenge on Saido Berahino early in the second half.

LB) Felipe Luis – 6

Another chance for the Brazilian full-back ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta and he produced a solid effort in a tough game.

MC) Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 7

Impressive performance from the youngster who will have a bright future. Loftus-Cheek uses the ball intelligently and it is easy to see why he’s so highly rated at the club.

MC) Nemanja Matic – 5

Struggled in midfield after Fabregas’ red card and should have scored late on from close range, but somehow allowed Boaz Myhill to keep out the effort.

AMC) Cesc Fabregas – 3

Foolish sending off from the Spaniard in the first half as he needlessly kicked the ball at Brunt. Has also now lost the chance to beat Thierry Henry’s Premier League record for assists.

AMR) Loic Remy – 6

Decent game from the Frenchman out on the right hand side as he hit the post with the score at 2-0 in the second half.

AML) Eden Hazard – 7

The only Chelsea player that can hold his head high from this game. Hazard persisted throughout, beating Baggies players at will, and created all the Blues’ best chances.

ST) Diego Costa – 5

Seemed more interested in getting into spats with Baggies defenders rather than play his natural game on his return from injury.
