The Anfield outfit will look to find buyers for both Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli but given their poor form this season it may be tough for the Merseyside club to recoup the £20m they invested in the pair.

33 year old England man Lambert has bagged just two Premier League goals whilst Balotelli has managed just one and their combined failure coupled with Daniel Sturridge’s injury lay-off have cost the club dear.

Rodgers has his sights set on launching a £12m bid for Man City star Stevan Jovetic, who has fallen down Manuel Pellegrini’s pecking order and could well be tempted by a summer switch.

Liverpool are also said to be closing in on Burnley youngster Danny Ings, the 22 year old’s Clarets contract set to expire in a matter of days, and a move for the Turf Moor man will cost around £4m.

Rodgers has failed to secure a Champions League berth for next term and as such may struggle to secure world-class additions and as such moves for this pair would be a sensible path to take.
