The Gunners boss is a big fan of his fellow Frenchman, who has scored 22 goals for Real this season in another impressive individual campaign.

Benzema has been a regular at the Bernabeu since joining from Lyon back in 2009, establishing himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe in a star-studded attack alongside big names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Arsenal could do with more quality up front, with Olivier Giroud drawing criticism again after a 0-0 draw with Sunderland in which he missed some decent chances and failed to cause the opposition defence enough problems.

Benzema would be a whole different prospect up top for the north London giants, and the Metro now reports that Wenger is ready to pay around £35.5m to bring the player to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
