The England international winger is currently unsettled at Anfield and is reportedly seeking an exit from the club at the end of this season, having rejected a number of contract offers from the Reds.

Henry has criticised Sterling’s agent for this saga and believes the youngster could do well to part ways with his troublesome representative, though the Frenchman, now a pundit for Sky Sports, also admitted he would love to see him play for Arsenal.

Sterling first burst onto the scene last season and has continued his fine form for Brendan Rodgers’ side this year, though the club’s slip out of the Champions League places may be influencing his decision to seek a move elsewhere, with a host of top clubs interested.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Henry also names Arsenal as among those after him, saying: “I would be more than happy to see him play for Arsenal but he’s still a Liverpool player.

“We all know he’s a Londoner, and we know Arsene is interested in him.

“I think we all know that he’s been receiving some bad advice. You can’t go out there and talk about your contract in the press. You have to respect your fans, respect the club that you play for.

“If you want to leave Liverpool or not, when you make the decision about leaving or staying, then do it. Don’t discuss yourself in the paper.”
