The Gunners are also interested in the 20-year-old Reds forward, and there is a chance of a swap deal between the two clubs this summer as Sterling seemingly wants out of Anfield.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted he won’t sell Walcott after his superb hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion on the final day of the season, but Liverpool think they may be able to snap him up, according to the Daily Express.

It is also claimed that these two clubs are in a battle to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, with the north Londoners currently leading the chase with a £30m bid over the Merseysiders’ £25m offer.

Manchester City are also eyeing up a move for Sterling, but Arsenal’s ability to offer Walcott in return could see them the favourites in this transfer saga.
