Take a look at the players to have made the top 10:

10) Santi Cazorla – Arsenal

The Spanish magician has been one of the stand-out performers in the Gunners midfield since the turn of the year and has redefined himself in a deeper role alongside Francis Coquelin.

After starting the season in a wide berth, injuries to the likes of Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey forced a reshuffle in midfield and Cazorla grabbed the chance with both hands and has not looked back since.

His importance to the team was further underlined with a man of the match performance in the FA Cup final against Aston Villa last Saturday.

9) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

Rooney scored 12 league goals this season and that total could have been more had he not had a stint as a central midfielder.

In a difficult season for the Red Devils he has been the one of the few players that can reflect on a decent campaign and will have been delighted to have led the team back into the Champions League.

8) Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea

The former Arsenal skipper would have surely been placed higher than eighth had his form not dipped towards the end of the season.

His exploits at the beginning of the campaign were nothing short of spectacular as he eased back into the Premier League like he’d never been away. The goal in the dying minutes of the game against Queens Park Rangers was a pivotal moment in the season.

The understanding between himself and Diego Costa is a main reason why the Blues were crowned champions of England.

7) Harry Kane  – Tottenham

It has been a sensational year for the 21-year-old, who didn’t really get going in the Premier League until November. But once he got going it has been difficult for opposing defenders to stop him.

21 league goals, a goal on his senior England debut and braces against Chelsea and Arsenal have been the highlight of his season.

6) Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

The Blues conceded the least amount of goals en route to winning the league and alongside captain John Terry, Ivanovic has played in all 38 games.

A superb defender who is equally effective at the other end. The Serbian scored five and assisted five in the league in addition to scoring the winner against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge.

5) David De Gea – Manchester United

United owe a great deal of gratitude to the Spanish stopper because if it wasn’t for him then there would be no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.

The 24-year-old has proven himself as one of the best keepers in the league with some stunning saves throughout the season.

If United want to challenge for the title next year then they must keep him out of Real Madrid’s clutches.

4) Sergio Aguero – Manchester City

If the Argentine striker had been fit for the entire season then City may have retained the Premier League title as it’s no secret that the Blues are a better team with him in the side.

Despite his injury problems, Aguero still finished the season as the league’s top-scorer with 26 goals in just 33 appearances and rightfully takes his place in the top-five.

3) John Terry – Chelsea

Mr Chelsea has been nothing short of brilliant at the heart of the Blues defence and he played every single minute of the league campaign. He marshaled the team to the most number of clean sheets and least amount of goals conceded in their dominant title winning season.

Despite being on the wrong side of 30, Terry is showing very little signs of slowing down and that is extremely bad news for the rest of the league.

2) Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal

It’s difficult to think of a player who has had such a brilliant impact during his first season in English football like Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal’s big money signing last summer has been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League this season. His work-rate has endeared him to Gunners supporters and has also weighed in with 25 goals in all competitions, including a stunning strike in the FA Cup final.

1) Eden Hazard – Chelsea

The PFA and FWA Player of the Year tops the list and it comes as no surprise

Hazard has been brilliant for the Blues throughout the season, impressing fans and pundits alike with his excellent ability on the ball and ice-cold composure in front of goal.

When some his team-mates performances started to decline towards the climax of the season, Hazard maintained his and scored the winner against Crystal Palace to clinch the title.
