Toure has been linked with a reunion with his former boss since comments from his agent (via Sky Sports) in which it seemed certain the 32-year-old would leave City when the transfer window opens.

But, the Ivorian revealed to the Manchester Evening News on Sunday night that he will still be a City player at the start of next season and went as far to outline his intentions to lead the club to success in the Premier League and in Europe.

However, those comments have not deterred Mancini in his bid to lure the midfielder to Inter Milan this summer:

“We need players who can help this team mature, so that means confidence and experience,” he said (via talkSPORT).

“Manchester City had been open to it before, now we have to wait and see what happens,” Mancini added.

The pair enjoyed great success together at City between 2009-2013 as the FA Cup and a League title were both delivered during that spell, with Toure scoring the winner in the 2011 final against Stoke City to clinch the club’s first major piece of silverware in 35 years.
