Chelsea certain to sign Radamel Falcao on loan deal

The 30-year-old lost his place in the Atleti team to 20-year-old Jose Gimenez at the back end of last season. With the youngster impressing in the team manager Diego Simeone has told the experienced centre-back that he can leave the Vicente Calderon.

Inter Milan are also interested, but it is the Premier League duo who are favourites to land the Brazil international. Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal are likely interested in the defender for his exploits in the campaign before last. He was vital in the Rojiblancos’ shock crowning as La Liga champions and their run to the final of the Champions League.

If Miranda is to move he may want to choose Old Trafford over their London rivals as it is likely he would get more game time there. The Blues already have John Terry, Gary Cahill, and Kurt Zouma competing over their two centre-back positions. Meanwhile the Red Devils have the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, and Marcos Rojo at the back, all of whom are of a lesser calibre than the Stamford Bridge trio.
