Louis van Gaal led Manchester United to return to the Premier League’s top four, and the club are expected to challenge for the title next season.
Early in the 2014-15 campaign. there were questions marks over their new manager’s ability to lead the Red Devils back to being a formidable force in Europe; however, a strong second half of the season has increased the optimism at the Theatre of Dreams.
Louis van Gaal spent a whopping £150m on new signings in his first summer in charge at Old Trafford, and the former Netherlands manager is expected to spend big again in the coming months, as he aims to pose a challenge to Chelsea’s status as English champions.
The Dutchman voiced his frustration at the exhausting pre-season tour his side faced before the start of last season, and having shorted their travels considerably this year, he expects the Red Devils to be better prepared for their opening clash of the new Premier League season.
They face a tough challenge against Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend at Old Trafford – in a month where United should really take maximum points.
