With Manchester United looking set to miss out on the signing of Atletico Madrid striker Mario Mandzukic as he nears a move to Juventus this summer, here’s a look at five forwards the club should try to sign instead…

1) Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

A world class striker who could be on the move this summer, Real Madrid star Karim Benzema would be an ideal choice for United up front if he is available, having shown himself to be one of Real’s best players since joining the club in 2009.

2) Alvaro Morata (Juventus)

Reportedly available for £58m, Juventus starlet Alvaro Morata has just had an outstanding first season in Turin and has emerged as a target for Liverpool, though he would definitely be a player for United to consider, especially with Juve now signing Mandzukic in addition to Paulo Dybala, leaving some room for Morata to make way.

3) Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Linked with a £40m move to Old Trafford, Tottenham striker Harry Kane has enjoyed an amazing season, scoring 31 goals and establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with at this level. A player with a great future, Kane could make a superb buy for the Red Devils.

4) Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Possibly on his way out of Paris Saint-Germain, Edinson Cavani is another big-name striker who could be exactly what United need up front next season, though he certainly wouldn’t come cheap.

5) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

One of the best young forwards in Europe, Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has been linked occasionally with a move to United among other top clubs, and the Frenchman certainly seems like he could do a good job in the Premier League.
