Chelsea have a good reputation in the transfer market, and rightly so, but look like completing some highly surprising deals this summer as these five flops emerge as targets for the club…

1) Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

A strange choice for a signing up front given his awful form on loan at Manchester United last season, Radamel Falcao is being strongly linked with another loan move to the Premier League with Chelsea this summer. With only four goals in 2014/15, what exactly did the Colombian do to impress Jose Mourinho?

2) Emmanuel Adebayor (Tottenham)

Linked with Chelsea a few months back, Tottenham misfit Emmanuel Adebayor is another goal-shy centre-forward attracting interest from Stamford Bridge. The Togo international looks way past his best, though he has arguably never really been top four quality.

3) Rob Green (Queens Park Rangers)

Eyed by Chelsea as a replacement for the Arsenal-bound Petr Cech, Rob Green has just been relegated with Queens Park Rangers and could make a cheap, realistic backup goalkeeper signing, though some will question if the Blues could aim a little higher?

4) Enner Valencia (West Ham)

With a whopping four goals all season long in 2014/15, Enner Valencia is another bizarre striker target for Chelsea this summer. The 25-year-old has not exactly looked a world beater at West Ham, so why should he be good enough for even a substitute’s role at Stamford Bridge?

5) Moussa Dembele (Tottenham)

Another bizarre Tottenham player in Chelsea’s sights is out-of-favour Belgian midfielder Moussa Dembele, who has been a big disappointment since joining Spurs from Fulham in 2012. Quite what purpose he could serve in this Blues squad is beyond us, anyway.
