Liverpool targeting teammate after being knocked back for midfielder

The striker has been sidelined by Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal since the Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford. He was loaned out to Real Madrid last season, and with United being linked to players such as Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette by the Metro it looks like there won’t be chances in the first team any time soon.

After impressing at the Bernabeu in the last campaign there is no shortage of suitors for the 27-year-old. He scored nine goals in 33 games for Los Blancos, but only 12 of those appearances were starts. When Karim Benzema got injured in the latter stages of the season, Hernandez also exhibited a good understanding with former United hero Cristiano Ronaldo.

This has enticed both Inter Milan and Juventus, but it is their Merseyside rivals who are in the lead to sign the poacher. Having already signed Danny Ings, Chicharito would be the second out and out striker to arrive at Anfield this summer should he sign. Fellow arrival Roberto Firmino can also play as a forward, so competition could be fierce.

However, there may be some reluctance from fans to see this transfer go through, with there being a fierce rivalry between the clubs. Michael Owen was the last player to feature for both teams, and even though he played for Real Madrid and Newcastle United between, Liverpool fans haven’t taken him to heart in the same way ever since.
