Here’s an XI made up of the most expensive transfer target in each position.

Goalkeeper – David De Gea (Man United) £35m

Strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid but not a player Man United will sell ‘on the cheap’. Bernabeu side have failed with a measly £13m bid and have been told to stump up world record goalkeeper signing fee.

Left-Back – Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg) £24m

Much sought after Swiss international is once again strongly linked with a move and is a player the Bundesliga side want top dollar for.

Centre-Back – Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) £49m

Man United have made two bids for the Spanish international, the latest one said to be as much as £49m, and still Real Madrid are not budging.

Centre-Back – Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia) £36m

Argentine is another Man United target and a player with a massive release clause that could be triggered this summer.

Right-Back – Seamus Coleman (Everton) £15m

Republic of Ireland international has long been linked with a move to Man United and could ideally fill the club’s problem area.

Left-Wing – Raheem Sterling (Liverpool) £50m

Man City have failed with two bids for the Anfield flyer and have been told to stump up £50m if they want the want-away contract rebel.

Defensive Midfield – Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton) £25m

By all accounts Man United have already agreed a deal to bring in the French international battler.

Central Midfield – Paul Pogba (Juventus) £71m

Hugely talented midfield powerhouse is another Man City target and a player who will cost a massive sum to secure.

Right-Wing – Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) £87m

Portuguese international is said to be unhappy after a poor campaign and PSG are known to be ready to fork out a world record £87m fee to land the Baloon d’Or holder.

Striker – Edinson Cavani (PSG) £60m

Uruguayan is unhappy at Laurent Blanc’s insistence at using him in a wide-attacking role, Man United are keen to bring in the former Napoli man to spearhead their attack.

Striker – Harry Kane (Tottenham) £45m

Yet another Man United target and after last season’s 31 goal haul it’s not surprising that the White Hart Lane side would want a big fee for the England man.
