Sterling looks to be on his way out of Merseyside this summer after a turbulent last few months in his career.

Back in April he gave an interview to BBC Sport without the club’s permission where he stated that he wished to place contract talks on hold until the end of the season.

However, with the Reds failing to reach the FA Cup final or qualify for next season’s Champions League, it was revealed by Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward that he would not be signing a new deal and wished to leave [via Standard Sport].

This led to the the club slapping a £50million price-tag on Sterling’s head [via Telegraph Sport] in a bid to avoid selling him this summer and they have already rejected two offers from Manchester City [via BBC Sport].

The Blues are expected to return with a third and final offer in the coming weeks [via Independent Sport] and Aldridge says his former club should accept that offer as youngster Jordon Ibe is ready to replace the 20-year-old:

“The sooner he leaves the better for all involved. All this transfer talk is making a mockery of Liverpool Football Club,” Aldridge told talkSPORT.

“Raheem is obviously a hugely talented player but Liverpool have a top replacement in Jordon Ibe.”

“I think he’s got as much, if not more, potential than Raheem and will go on to be a better player,” he added.
