If manager Jose Mourinho needs to clear out some members of his squad to make room for the Turkey international, then there are other players that he can use.

Here are five others…

5) John Obi Mikel

Just 13 of the 28-year-old’s 26 appearances last season were starts, and the success of Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic in the middle of the park means that he is unlikely to get any extra chances next season. As such the Nigerian could well be let go without any major repercussions.

4) Loic Remy

Seven goals in 668 minutes in the Premier League during the last campaign, but didn’t seem to be in Mourinho’s good books and even a 37-year-old Didier Drogba featured ahead of him at times. Whoever they offloaded the France international to would be very lucky to get the striker.

3) Marco van Ginkel

Now 22-years-old, and if the Dutchman isn’t going to be used in the first team it may be time to sell him on. He could be one of the many youngsters that the Blues sell on at a profit, similarly to Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne last year.

2) Oriol Romeu

On loan at Stuttgart last season, and it looks like the 23-year-old will never make it at Stamford Bridge. Surely only a matter of time before they get rid.

1) Josh McEachran

Hasn’t featured in the first team since 2011, and was sent to Vitesse Arnhem last time round. For all who have gone there, have any players ever come back and made an impact?
