United want three more signings after Schweinsteiger and Darmian.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal’s three top targets for the remainder of the summer transfer window appear to have been revealed in today’s Sun.
The Red Devils are eyeing up some big names after already bringing in Memphis Depay and Matteo Darmian this summer, while BBC Sport reported yesterday that United were close to finalising a deal to bring in Bastian Schweinsteiger from Bayern Munich, subject to a medical.
The Sun now claims that United want another striker, and have looked at several options before deciding on one realistic target, while additions in defence and midfield are also still possible in this transfer window.

1) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
According to The Sun, United manager Van Gaal ‘expects’ to sign Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos this summer, which is likely to happen as part of the deal for David de Gea to move to the Bernabeu. With defence clearly a weakness for the Red Devils last season as they conceded more than nearby rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and even Southampton, the addition of a world class performer like the Spanish World Cup winner could make all the difference as they look to mount a more serious title challenge.

2) Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)
Secondly, United look set to try to solve their problems up front by joining the running to sign Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke. The Belgian international was in fine form for Villa last season as they narrowly escaped relegation, and The Sun claims United may be ready to pay his £32.5m release clause, having considered moves for the likes of Harry Kane and Gonzalo Higuain, who would be too expensive at reported fees of £45m and £67m, respectively. With The Sun adding that Robin van Persie is close to leaving for Fenerbahce, Benteke could be an ideal replacement and an important buy for the club.
3) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)
Finally, The Sun claims United are still pursuing a deal for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, with the Saints braced for a £25m bid for the French international, who impressed as one of the finest defensive midfield players in the Premier League last season and who would fit in well at Old Trafford.
