Top Five Potential Arsenal midfield solutions, following Arturo Vidal and Morgan Schneiderlin snubs (Video)

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger‘s search for a new midfielder took a blow following the news that Arturo Vidal heading to Bayern Munich.

That, coupled with Morgan Schneiderlin’s transfer to Manchester United and William Carvalho being ruled out for up to three months with a broken leg, means that the Frenchman is running out of potential targets.

But does ‘Le Professeur’ have a trick up his sleeve?

Take a look at five potential players that the Gunners boss can still sign before the transfer window slams shut on September 1:

Lars Bender

The German international is constantly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in every transfer window and this one is no different.

Could this finally be the year in which Bender becomes a gooner?

Grzegorz Krychowiak

The Sevilla man enjoyed a fantastic season last year which was capped off with a goal in the Europa League final in his homeland of Poland back in May.

With a reported £21.5 million release clause in his contract with the Liga BBVA outfit, it would be typical of Wenger to sign a relative unknown and turn him into a world star.

Ilkay Gundogan

Despite signing a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit earlier this month, Gundogan has since hinted that he could still be on the move this summer.

With United now out of the race, the Gunners would have a clear path in signing the deep-lying playmaker.

David Alaba

Shock news in media during the week linked the Gunners with an audacious swoop for the versatile Bayern Munich star, who still has three years remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena.

Wenger has surprised people before with the signings of Mesut Ozil and Petr Cech, does the Frenchman have another major transfer deal in his sights?

Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and co..

Wenger is known for his loyalty to his players and it would be no surprise if he chooses to stick with his current crop of midfielders given how well they performed towards the end of last season.
